Why this calculator exists
Most Etsy fee calculators stop one step too early. They subtract Etsy's cut from your revenue, show you a cheerful number, and leave out the two costs that decide whether an order was worth making.
The first is postage. When a buyer pays for shipping, that money shows up as revenue — but you then hand most of it to a carrier, and Etsy has already taken 6.5% of it on the way past. A calculator that treats charged shipping as income and ignores the label you bought is telling you a story with the ending removed.
The second is your own time. Handmade sellers routinely price their work as if labour were free, because labour is the one input nobody invoices them for. It is still the input that runs out first.
This tool counts both, alongside every fee Etsy currently charges: the listing fee, the 6.5% transaction fee, payment processing, the regulatory operating fee that sellers in the UK, France, Italy and Spain pay, and the Offsite Ads fee with its per-order cap.
What it does differently
- It is honest about shipping. Charged shipping counts as revenue, and your actual postage cost counts against you. If free shipping is quietly eating your margin, the receipt says so.
- It works for eight marketplaces. Payment processing and the regulatory operating fee differ by the country your bank account is in, not by where your buyer lives. Pick your marketplace and the rates change with it.
- Every rate is editable. The presets are a starting point, not gospel. Etsy revises its rates, seller accounts differ, and the fee panel lets you overwrite any number to match what your Payment account actually shows.
- It works backwards too. Tell it the margin you want to keep and it solves for the listing price that gets you there, fees and costs included.
Where the numbers come from
The fee presets follow Etsy's published rates, including the regulatory operating fee revision that took effect on 22 June 2026. The date they were last checked is shown inside the fee panel on the calculator, next to a link to Etsy's own fee page so you can verify any figure yourself.
Rates change. If you find one that has drifted, tell us and it gets fixed.
Your data
The calculator runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is transmitted anywhere — there is no server to send it to. Your last set of figures is kept in your browser's local storage so the page remembers them next time, and that copy never leaves your device. The privacy policy spells out the details.
